Vitamins & minerals
How should a private-label pet multivitamin and mineral formula be specified?
Pet SupplementsAnswer 30Reviewed September 2026
Specify each nutrient by chemical form, source, target amount per serving and acceptable finished-product range. Consider normal dietary intake, intended species, life stage, serving frequency and possible upper limits rather than adding every nutrient at the highest feasible level. Account for processing loss and shelf-life decline through justified overages, then verify label declarations with appropriate methods. Positioning must not suggest that the product is a complete and balanced diet unless the required nutritional-adequacy basis exists.
