What should an international buyer ask about palatability?

Ask how the supplier defines acceptance, which species and population were evaluated, the number of animals, test conditions and whether results relate to the final formula and dosage form. Palatability can change when active ingredients, flavours, coating, hardness, moisture or serving size change. A sensible approval plan includes a physical sample review and, where commercially important, a documented acceptance study using the final or representative product. Palatability results should not be converted into health or efficacy claims.
