Why does the carrier or excipient in a premix matter?
Feed Additives & PremixesAnswer 06Reviewed September 2026
The carrier affects flow, dust, bulk density, compatibility, distribution and stability. Its identity and source may also affect legal status, allergen or contamination controls and customer acceptance. Buyers should confirm carrier specification, particle-size relationship, moisture and any processing aids, then assess compatibility with the active components and final feed. A carrier change can alter premix performance even when the declared active concentration remains unchanged.
